Maryland Senate committee passes gay marriage bill
ANNAPOLIS — A Senate committee voted Tuesday afternoon in favor of the House’s approved same-sex marriage bill, sending the legislation to the Senate floor, where it is expected to pass, then go to Gov. Martin O'Malley.
The Democratic governor sponsored the legislation and will almost assuredly sign it into law, making Maryland the eighth state, along with the District of Columbia, to approve gay-marriage legislation.
